The Look Back - My "Blackberry Moment"
For years, I was convinced that a physical keyboard was the pinnacle of mobile productivity. My entire workflow was a well-oiled machine built around my Palm and Blackberry devices. So when the first iPhone arrived, I was deeply skeptical, viewing it as a toy for games and videos. My comfort in that existing workflow, combined with a "power user mindset," blinded me to the new paradigm taking shape. The true lesson I learned was that the future isn't built for a niche; it's built on a platform that can serve everyone.
Why This Time is Different
For me, the answer to why this AI (and specifically Agentic AI) wave is different is deeply personal. I experienced firsthand the immense cost of underestimating a paradigm shift as Intel found itself on the wrong side of both the Smart Phone and, more recently, the AI market surge. But my conviction isn't just a gut reaction based on past mistakes. It’s about seeing the signal through the noise, and right now, the signal has never been clearer.
For the first time, AI tools have intent. This changes everything. But this isn't a 'gold rush,' where we must pick a side selling shovels or staking a claim in a brutal, zero-sum game. That’s a narrative of scarcity, and it’s wrong.
This is a tsunami. An inevitable, all-encompassing force that will reshape our world. The only choice is to learn to ride the wave or be washed away by its excess.
As MindStudio's CEO Dmitry Shapiro put it, we are in a 'hunter’s paradise'—there are opportunities everywhere. The challenge is not finding them, but harnessing this unimaginable surplus. This newsletter is about building the surfboard.
This creates a dangerous gap: a recent study found that 73% of employees are unaware of how AI agents will impact their work. The wave is here, but the vast majority of people don't even have a surfboard.
The Choice Ahead - An Agentic Renaissance or a Digital Dark Age?
This tidal wave of change has no predetermined destination.
Path #1: The Digital Dark Age. This is the path of passivity. New studies show that companies embracing AI are hiring fewer junior employees, automating the very tasks that have always been the first rung on the career ladder. The risk is not just job elimination, but job devaluation, where a senior role is treated and compensated like a junior one.
Path #2: The Agentic Renaissance. This is the path of ownership. While the data shows companies replacing junior talent, the 'Renaissance' reveals a much smarter strategy. I saw growth advisor Yousuf Bhajee offer a brilliant contrarian take on this exact data. His hot take: the market is betting on seniors now, but in 18 months, the edge will be with juniors. Why? Because they are faster adopters of new tech, and they can learn at an incredible speed when AI is used as a "coach" instead of just a tool that does the work for them. Instead of asking an AI to write a report (the passive approach), an AI coach asks the junior employee probing questions, helps them structure their thoughts, and provides real-time feedback, effectively mentoring them through the task. The result? A company can give an entry-level hire the equivalent of two years of work experience in a fraction of the time. This is how you build a truly "AI-native" workforce and how upskilling lets you ride the wave.
The difference is not the technology; it is agency.
The Grand Vision
I am captivated by a bigger and grander vision: to use AI Agents to free up my mindshare for the things that truly require a human touch. Think about the minutia. We're already seeing agents manage 65% of all customer interactions and reduce documentation time by up to 80% in some fields. That is the work that should be automated away by our own personalized Agentic Army so we can focus on driving our lives where we actually want to go.
The Data & The Path Forward
This vision isn't just a dream; it's a necessary response to a problem that's been building for decades.

This chart shows a system that stopped rewarding work in the same way it rewarded output. The non-obvious opportunity of Agentic AI is a fundamental shift in the ROI of human talent. New strategic roles like 'AI Architect' are commanding salaries over $300,000 annually, proving that the ROI on an empowered, agentic professional is immense.
A Journey for All of Us
It’s easy to look at this tidal wave of new technology and think, "This isn't for me." But the conversations I’ve had just this week prove that this journey is for everyone. I was talking to a former colleague, a brilliant systems engineer; a friend who is a wicked smart lawyer and law school professor; and my best man, a primary school teacher. They are all starting this journey from different places, but they are all heading toward the same future. You just need a problem you want to solve.
Setting Your First Destination
The idea of "building an agent" is really just creating a smart recipe. My "Agentic Army" is tasked with combating "Best-Case Scenario Theater"—the endless meetings spent debating idealistic Gantt charts or trying to manage data across multiple archaic, disconnected systems. A perfect example is capturing schedule and project data from its native format and automatically structuring it for review. This simple act frees up engineers and project managers to focus on the crucial insights within the information, not just shoveling it from one silo to another. The rise of no-code platforms is creating a new class of "Citizen Developers."
Your First Step This Week
Your tangible first step isn't about mastering a new app; it's about a simple act of self-reflection.
Step 1: Conduct Your "Tedium Audit" For one day this week, jot down every single task that feels tedious, repetitive, and drains your energy.
Step 2: Find Your First Target Once you have your list, run your candidates through this simple 3-Filter framework:
Choose Your Arena: At work or at home?
Pick a Problem You Know Deeply: Start where you are the expert.
Write a 3-Step Recipe: If you can break it down into "First, Next, Then," it’s a perfect candidate.
If you're unsure where to start, please reach out by DM.
A "Driver" in Action
The "passenger" mindset is reactive. It's asking an AI, "Rewrite my resume," or worse, complaining on the couch against the faceless “AI” taking everyone’s jobs. The "driver" mindset is proactive. It's giving the AI a mission: "Act as a career strategist. Find the 'hidden through-line' in my career, give me a critical eye on my weaknesses, and help me define my personal brand." That's the difference between asking for a better answer and asking a better question.
A Thank You and a Look Ahead
Before I sign off, a personal thank you to all of the early subscribers and commenters. My goal is to build a community where we can all learn, build, and win together. Our next step is a roadmap. That's what we'll be exploring in Episode 3: a powerful concept I call "The Career Flywheel." Stay tuned.
The Final Word
And one last thing: challenge me. This newsletter is my first step in building a community of thinkers. If you see a flaw in my logic, tell me. Every time I've been wrong, I've learned something new.
"The Right Questions are better than Right Answers."
